Many PSTH stock investors bought short dated call options in the hope that Bill Ackman would make an acquisition of a unicorn company like Stripe or Starlink. Instead PSTH invested in a 10 percent stake in the upcoming spinoff of Universal Music Group from French conglomerate Vivendi. Within weeks, the Securities and Exchange Commission stunned Ackman, essentially ending the deal by telling his lawyers that it did not meet the New York Stock Exchange’s requirements for a SPAC. PSTH stock is back around $20 and has created millions of dollars in losses for many millennials who bet heavily on short dated call options.
