Printing a basket of purple fruit for National Tropical Fruit Day (July 18)

Описание: We like to find “national holidays” online as an excuse to highlight or print many of the historic cuts or materials in our Print Shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. Today is a good example of that because July 18th is National Tropical Fruit Day!

For today, Jared letterpress printed an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Stockton High School Print Shop Collection. The print depicts a basket of fruit with a pineapple predominantly displayed on top. The text below, set in 24 point Caslon, states, “National Tropical Fruit Day.” This was printed with purple oil base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
