The modern system of taxonomy was developed by Carl Linnaeus, who introduced the system of binomial nomenclature — the two-part scientific naming system (for example, Homo sapiens for humans).
By studying taxonomy, scientists can trace the “family tree of life” and understand how different organisms are connected through taxonomic ranks:
Kingdom → Phylum → Class → Order → Family → Genus → Species
Each level becomes more specific, with species being the most specific category.
