One of the world’s most famous artworks, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's The Umbrellas, is on display in Leicester as part of The National Gallery's 200th birthday celebrations. National Treasures sees 12 iconic artworks loaned to galleries and museums across the UK. The exhibition runs from Friday 10 May until Sunday 1 September 2024.
The Umbrellas will be shown alongside this newly commissioned animated short film 'Lost Amongst the Umbrellas' by Leicester based animation studio Kino Bino.
The short film explores the meaning and ideas behind the artwork. The family friendly animation shows the artwork in a new light, opening this important piece of history to a wide variety of new audiences.
