Intro clip: Performed by Lloyd English Trio
The Jody Grind was written in 1966 by Horace Silver and was recorded as both a quintet and a sextet. It peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard jazz album charts. I recorded this a few months ago with a trio with myself on guitar, Dr. Tony Genge on jazz organ, and Graham Villette on drum kit. It is done in the groove style of the period, not only in overall feel but also in guitar technique.
