The City of Ekurhuleni is expected to elect a new council speaker.
The candidate will replace Dora Mlambo who has been redeployed to serve as an MMC.
Two candidates have been nominated for the position: the African Transformation Movement’s John Senona and the Economic Freedom Fighters’ Nkululeko Dunga.
The vote comes against the backdrop of continued political turbulence in Ekurhuleni, where fragile coalitions and disagreements between the ANC and the EFF have repeatedly destabilised council leadership.
