Hampton Art Stamp Perfect Set up and My Review for Hand/Wrist Issues

Описание: I recommend that you do some set up with your Stamp Perfect to make it an even more effective stamping tool.
Take the magnets off of the bottom of the Stamp Perfect and put at least two layers of washi tape on them so they are easy to separate and if they shatter, they won't hurt you. I have had several shatter, so please make sure you do this step if nothing else.
Next, put a grid sheet covered in plastic inside your Stamp Perfect. Go to www.waterproofpaper.com and print free 1/4" grid sheets and trim it to fit inside..

You get an extra sheet of clear plastic with each stamp set you buy and you can tape two of them together for this or, you can go to Staples or Office Max in their printing department and ask if they will sell you an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of acetate (clear plastic). You can make your grid sheets more effective, by putting a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card inside the unit on the grid sheet and outline two sides of the card with washi tape. I did the same with a 5" x 7" card then ran double sided tape over the grid sheet and laid the plastic (acetate) over the grid sheet to seal it closed. The great part about this, is now the grid sheet is easy to clean and you can use it to determine where your sentiment should be in relation to the size of your card. It also makes watercolors and inks easy to wipe off, as well as being able to have a grid over the foam, as this machine doesn't come with grid paper (like the MISTI--at an additional charge.)
You should have enough grid sheet left over that you can trim a 2" tall x 5 1/2" long piece of grid sheet and cover with acetate as well. This is terrific for lining up sentiments to ensure they are straight by putting this into the Stamp Perfect and making sure the grid lines on the small piece are straight with the edges of the grid sheet beneath. Then you just lay your sentiment against the small piece of grid sheet and your sentiment should always be straight. I find this easier than trying to look through the door to determine if the sentiment is straight.
I also put a couple pieces of washi tape on the door to allow it to open and close easily as Kristina Werner did this to her MISTI and I thought it was a good idea, especially if you have long fingernails or have hand issues--it just makes it easier to open and close the door.
If the door of your Stamp Perfect squeaks, you can use PAM vegetable spray on the hinges to stop the squeaking. Make sure you put paper towels on either side of the hinge and spray a very small amount and then open and close the door a few times. Then close the door and spray a little more PAM on the outside of the hinges putting paper towels on either side of the hinge, and then open and close the door a couple more times. If the squeak doesn't go away, the people at Hampton Arts said that the hinges might be misaligned, so you'd want to contact Hampton Arts about it. If you have hinge squeaking, don't use anything that has petroleum in it, like a Vaseline type product.
To clean the Stamp Perfect, use a spray bottle of water and a soft cloth. If that doesn't clean it off, then try a baby wipe. If that doesn't clean it, you can buy Novus 1 Plastic Clean that you can buy online at Amazon or at a store that sells auto/boat cleaning supplies.
If you are interested in extra circle magnets, I bought mine on ebay and the item number is 261626282973. Put the number in the search box on ebay and press enter and you should find a set of five round magnets for $2.37 with free shipping from China. I often use more than two magnets to hold a heavier project down. Sometimes acrylic stamps will pick the card up off of the base as the acrylic stamps are sticky, so the extra magnets are even more beneficial when using these stamps.

I will caution you that these are extremely strong and will pull the round magnets to it from a couple of inches away. I have had washi tape tear off of it, and am now trying four layers of washi to see if that works. I did just get a comment from a viewer that recommended using duct tape on the bar magnet, and that never occurred to me.
