This is the 1:400 scale Gemini Jets Braniff international Douglas DC-8-62. This model was produced in 2006, with the with the Calder livery representing South America.
This Aircraft has had a long and storied career, flying from mostly North America. The Aircraft was first purchased in the late 1960’s by Braniff international, with the registration N1805, where it began service in late late 1967. It served till 1983 in both the one tone Flying Colors livery and in the seen here livery representing South America, designed by Alexander Calder, one of two Braniff International Aircraft paint schemes he designed.
In October of 1983, this aircraft began operations with Rich International Airways, before being leased by Air Florida laer that year for service in the Rich International livery, but with Air Florida markings will 1989.
At this point the aircraft briefly flew for Pegasus Airlines, before reverting to Rich International and then being scrapped in October of 1990.
The aircraft was powered by 4 JT3D-3B turbojet engines, producing 18,000 lbf or 80.07 kN each
Each aircraft could hold up to 189 Passengers in a single class. With an average speed of 483 kn or 895 km/h, range of 5,200 nmi or 9,600 km.
