Since 1867, its name has perpetuated the memory of Louis Daguerre (1787-1851), the inventor of the daguerreotype, the forerunner of the camera.
This road, which existed as a path in 1730 in the former commune of Montrouge, was incorporated into the Parisian road network in 1863.
