Euphorbia Lactea Cristata
Common Names: Coral Cactus or Varigated Elkhorn or Varigated Candelabra or Varigated Frilled Fan or Alabaster Swirl or Varigated Crested Euphorbia
• Description - This is a succulent plant or cactus, this very beautiful cactus is named as Euphorbia Lactea Crystata, this is the varigated variety, there are three different coloured variety available - green, silvery and gray-merun-pink. It is a native to Afrika, these grow slowly as it has less amount of chlorophyll. It grows horizontally and takes the form of hand fan, it also looks like coral so, it is called coral cactus.
• Extra Care - Branches normally grows horizontally, but some branches starts to grow upword and these grows very rapidly with respect to other, plz cut these branches off because this growth destroy the crystal form.
• Extra Care - It is generally grafted on another green Euphorbia Cactus for its more growth, to make it attractive. Generally Euphorbia Lactea or Bajbarun plant and Euphorbia Nerifolia or Manosa plant is used as a stock. You may use another Euphorbia plant for its grafting.
• Temperature, Sunlight & Dormancy - Less amount of chlorophyll in its cell is, so, more sunlight is not necessary, it grows well in semished place, so, place this plant in full sun in Spring, Rain, Autumn, Pre-Winter and Winter as these season give them soft sunlight. Keep them apart from full sunlight in Summer, hard sunlight of Summer csuses sunburn.
• Onroot vs Grafted Plant - It grows slowly when planted in soil, but a grafted one grows very rapidly. It is a giant variety cactus and attains a giant like look, so a large pot is required for it for both onroot and grafted one.
• Soil - It likes well drainage sandy soil which is capable to hold some moisture and a little organic food.
• Watering - In presence of a small amount of moisture in soil, it grows smoothly. So water it when upper layer of soil just gets dried.
• Propagation - It propagates via cutting, it takes only 20 to 25 days for root formation. If we graft a small fragment of branch on another euphorbia cactus, we get a new babby plant.
