In todays video, we cover major developments out of Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Victoria, as organised crime investigations continue to unfold across the country. Our first update is from Perth. Bikie David Pye, has been found guilty of orchestrating the 2020 sniper killing of former Rebels boss Nick Martin at the Perth Motorplex. The 43 year old was convicted in the Supreme Court of Western Australia after a judge only trial before Justice Joseph McGrath. Staying in Perth, former Mongols leader Marius Sabau is awaiting sentencing after being convicted over a large scale drug operation that used Airbnb rentals across the city to store and distribute methamphetamine and cocaine. Next to Sydney, where human remains believed to be those of 85 year old Chris Baghsarian were located near a golf club in Pitt Town as part of Strike Force Chobat. Police allege he was taken from his North Ryde home by masked men in what investigators believe may have been a case of mistaken identity. Staying in Sydney’s south west, a 31 year old man has been charged with alleged terrorism related offences after a traffic stop in Yagoona. In Adelaide, the Australian Federal Police seized more than 28 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a luxury bus that arrived on a roll on roll off vessel at Outer Harbor. Over in Victoria, police have dismantled an alleged car theft ring operating across Melbourne’s north west. More than 20 vehicles were recovered, including high value utes and heavy machinery. Two alleged ringleaders have been remanded to appear before the Sunshine Magistrates' Court, facing more than 60 offences between them. Investigators say electronic key reprogramming devices were used to steal many of the vehicles. The explosive Rotting From The Top report continues to cause controversy in Victoria. Former Rebels member and CFMEU delegate Stu E Corkran has denied claims made in the report led by Geoffrey Watson, rejecting allegations of bikie influence on major infrastructure projects and describing the corruption claims as exaggerated. A Vietnamese organised crime syndicate is also under investigation following the interception of precursor chemicals allegedly destined for Sydney. The Australian Federal Police allege the network coordinated the importation of chemicals used in drug manufacture, with arrests made in Eastwood. One accused faces up to 25 years imprisonment if convicted. Finally, in Sydney’s south west, three men have been charged over an alleged 1 million dollar insurance fraud scheme under Strike Force Loughton. Detectives claim hundreds of fake invoices were approved for services never carried out, with funds allegedly moved between multiple bank accounts.
That wraps up todays major crime updates from around the country.
