This is a recording of our Online Wildlife Exchange Session which took place on 23/2/22.
At our February Online Wildlife Exchange Session we were joined by Helen, Andy, Jo and Ben from Chester Zoo's Field Programmes team, along with Chloe, our Monitoring Officer at RECORD.
Chester Zoo isn't just about exotic species... did you know that the zoo owns an amazing 236 ha estate - an entire landscape that's being developed and managed to help UK wildlife thrive . Now, with thanks to funding from DEFRAs Green Recovery Challenge fund, they've got big plans to restore and create even more habitat in this area, including ponds, grasslands, reedbeds, hedgerows and more. The vision is for a flourishing, interconnected mosaic of habitats, linked up to a massive 10-mile 'Nature Recovery Corridor' in the wider landscape.
The team share what's been done so far and how monitoring of the estate's wildlife has been crucial to formulating these plans. Find out a bit more about what's planned over the next exciting couple of years and learn how you can get involved in this ambitious local conservation project.
