Ika Rere is the first 100% Electric high speed Ferry in the Southern Hemisphere, which operates in Wellington, New Zealand. Ika Rere's officially launched today (Thursday 16 December, 2021).
Ika Rere can carry up to 135 passengers (including 3 crew), can reach a speed of 20 knots, is 100% electric (no diesel, not a hybrid), and only takes 20 minutes to fully charge.
Ika Rere will be eased into service over the upcoming weeks.
