The Caravan of Hope harnessed the power of voice, art and creativity to inspire hope for communities, planet and future through the adoption of culture and creative tools for social intervention, communication and advocacy. Through Community Immersions (which involved living, working and participating in community life, interactions with the land, people and culture to encourage reflection & introspection, while fostering a supportive and inclusive community), Caravan ARTivations (integrated multi-language, multidiscipline and multimedia use for community centred dialogues - listening to voices from the margins followed by contemplative story collection with Mbira Therapy and Meditation Sessions for reflection & processing trauma through active healing), and
Dance-It-Out Sessions (the physical release and communication of the experiences of the caravaners and the communities) the Mapfupa Healing Dance was created.
This is a circus production which documents, stores and connects the stories and experiences of the Caravan of Hope while educating and raising awareness to audiences about the plight of these communities and their call for Climate Justice.
