We talk about birds like they're one animal. For example, "I watch birds."
Here's something to consider. The group "Birds" is as big as the group "Mammals". So when we go to the store for "Bird Food" it's exactly as imprecise as going to the store for "Mammal Food".

Because birds have all kinds of different lifestyles! Some fly, some dig, some swim. There is a bird that eats just about every food on Earth, and some things that are not food (eg. bones).

They live in every climate, every habitat. Anywhere you are, there's a bird pretty close by.

So let's look at the varied shapes and styles of bird, and appreciate how diverse this group can be!
