The Battle of Britain wasn’t just a fight for the skies. It was a fight for our future.
This week, Air Officer Northern Ireland, Air Marshal Sean Reynolds, hosted a commemorative reception at Stormont, bringing together political, industry and education leaders to honour that legacy.
In one of his first engagements as Chief of the Air Staff, ACM Harv Smyth reflected on the enduring relevance of 1940:
“It was a battle that steadied a nation, marked Germany’s first defeat and showcased air power’s utility to the world…”
The event ended with a poignant Lancaster Bomber flypast over Stormont.
