While there is a great deal of interest generated by the succession crisis within the Kingdom of England, leading to the Normans, little attention is given to Edgar, the likely successor to King Edward if he were older. Despite quickly losing the kingdom conferred onto him by the witan, Edgar persisted in building power, becoming one of the most important and influential figures in Britain in his time.
