Burned Body found in Charred Car

Описание: LANGFORD - For the second time in as many months West Shore RCMP have been called to the scene of a burned body. The latest gruesome discovery was made overnight at the end of a cul-de-sac in Langford. Police originally thought they were going to investigate a care fire, but once the flames were doused, a body was found inside the vehicle.

The charred Honda was under a tarp at then end of Bellamy road for most of the morning. West Shore RCMP and Langford Fire responded to several 911 calls of a burning vehicle around 12:40am. One neighbour who lives near the crime scene saw the fire and called police. Rob Desormeaux says the sound of a car horn woke him up. When he went outside to the end of his driveway he saw smoke and flames. He says he didn't know there was a body in the car until paramedics told him. "it's shocking, what happened," he says.

Tim Berg, who also lives nearby didn't see the fire, but saw the car. "I didn't see anything but the car parked here yesterday morning. Then I get up to go to work today and there's cops everywhere," he says.

People who live in the area say the end of the street occasionally attracts teenagers and people looking for a shortcut to the highway.

Police say they have not yet identified the victim. The body is so badly burned, there're not sure if the victim is a man or a woman. RCMP hope an autopsy, scheduled for tomorrow, will help them name the person burned in the car.

RCMP say this suspicious death is not connected to the murder of 18-year-old Kimberly Proctor. Her burned body was found beneath a bridge on the Galloping Goose trail in Colwood less than six weeks ago.

But the fears in the Bellamy Road neighbourhood are real and as Iona Gallacher left her home for vacation today, she left visibly shaken "We were supposed to get up and go on our trip, but we got out the hosue and saw all these police around. It was freaky!" she said.
