This is one of the most diverse songs Green Day has written, with the incredibly soft and beautiful intro, featuring unusual harmonies, followed by the main section which in itself consists of a powerful intro, chorus, and a verse with an alternating heavy power-chord riff, and the clear and high vocal parts accompanied by a funny clean picked guitar. The song still features a bridge, a solo, and it ingeniuosly converts the soft intro harmonics and melody into a fat hymn-like outro with heavy instrumentation :)
