Описание: Waikato is the largest region on New Zealand's North Island. And it's extremely popular amongst tourists from around the country and from all over the world. It's not only amazingly beautiful, but it's also home to several well-known landmarks including Hobbiton Movie Set, Hamilton City and Waitomo Caves. But that's not everything you can see here when visiting Waikato.

We decided to spend a weekend in Waikato and show you some of the less known attractions of this region. There are so many places to visit! So when travelling New Zealand, make sure to allow more time to explore Waikato.

We start our weekend in Waikato near Waitomo. Located on top of the hill, Kamahi Cottage is the only 5-star cottage in New Zealand. It offers incredible views, comfortable accommodation and a yummy breakfast and dinner. When ready to leave, we head to Omaru Falls. Track to this spectacular waterfall leads through native bush and private farms with friendly cows. At sunset, we enjoy the views of limestone cliffs near Hairy Feet Waitomo. You can also go for a tour to see one of the filming locations for the Hobbit movie. We wrap up this day watching Waitanguru Falls and go to Cambridge where we will spend the night.
