The Oath of Secrecy Initiation

Описание: Within contemporary witchcraft, upon initiation an "Oath of Secrecy" is undertaken. This has often been criticised by non-initiates for its apparent lack of relevance in our modern world, not to mentioned being used as some kind of elite status to "lord over" others. Are these criticisms accurate or is there more to this oath than what appears from the "outside"?
