A step‑by‑step fingerstyle guitar tutorial for Paul Desmond’s Take Five, originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959. This lesson walks through the full arrangement measure by measure, focusing on keeping the 5/4 groove steady while making the piece accessible for intermediate fingerstyle players.
The tutorial is based on John Zaradin’s arrangement from Popular Songs for the Classical Guitar (1986), but I’ve simplified the texture, removed some of the dense inner voices, and reshaped the rhythmic feel to make it easier to learn and perform as a solo guitar piece.
