Reading I - Numbers 21:4b-9
…So Moses prayed for the people, and the LORD said to Moses,"Make a saraph and mount it on a pole,and if any who have been bitten look at it, they will live."Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole,and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpentlooked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

Reading II - Philippians 2:6-11
… Rather, he emptied himself,taking the form of a slave,coming in human likeness;and found human in appearance,he humbled himself,becoming obedient to death,even death on a cross.

Gospel - John 3:13-17
… "No one has gone up to heavenexcept the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,so must the Son of Man be lifted up,so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

Joke/But First - a boy had been bad at every school he attended he continually was expelled. Who is on the Cross
He emptied himself of his divinity to take on our humanity.
God is on the cross
Jesus who cured the sick, healed the blind and the lame. Walked on water and rose the dead
Who at his very name every head should bow and every knee should bend. And every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.

Purpose of the Cross
World‘s purpose and God‘s purpose
The world’s purpose is to kill to murder to destroy to humiliate to hurt. To get rid of those we don’t like.
God‘s purpose is to save the world. God‘s purpose is to build family Jesus from the cross our mother this is your son John this is your mother putting family together from the cross. God‘s purpose is to teach us to forgive. Jesus is suffering in pain. He does not call on his friends to avenge him, but rather he cause God in the world to forgive. God uses the cross to open the gates of heaven for all of us. All of us there were two thieves crucified on our side of Jesus they were taunting Jesus, making fun of Jesus and then one said stop it. He said this man is that we deserve to be here. He is innocent and he says to Jesus, please remember me when you Are in your kingdom, and Jesus said this every day he will be with me in paradise. God uses the cross to open heaven for us.
