We decide to explore Ross, after we bid farewell to Raw Adventures, as they leave us to travel on ahead.
Ross is only 10 mins away. It has been described, by so many others, as a place you really need your see.
We stop in at the Female Factory and read about its history. It is a lot if reading as this is predominantly a site, with only the one building still standing. So the rest is described on the information boards that show pictures of how some of it looked.
If you imagine, as you look around the grounds, what it must have been like there for all those women, it is a foreboding place that no amount of positive spin can remove.
The Ross Bridge, spanning Macquarie River is a feat of engineering. A sturdy, squat structure that looks like it will stand for a thousand years yet.

This town is worth a stop in. The buildings are restored and cared for and there are a number of different shops to keep you interested. The people are friendly and helpful, and will even buy the shirt off your back.
Ross has a caravan park which we imagine would get very busy at times during the year.
