A winter walk on New Year's day up Pen Y Graig near Tremeirchion, three miles from Dinbych in North Wales. Y Graig means "the crag" or "the Rock" and Pen means "Head", so Pen Y Craig means "Head of the crag" or "Head of the rock".The views of the Clwyd Valley from the top, all along the Afon Clwyd to the Estuary at Y Rhyl are stunning. It's lovely to walk in nature at this time of year. It can be cold in winter, but this day was comparatively mild. Y Craig was once a Quarry with its own limestone kiln but, these days it is a wildlife sanctuary.
