“Doce Presença” is the new album by Josee Koning - the result of many, many years of friendship with Ivan Lins. During a walk on the beach in May 2022, along the coast near her home in the Netherlands, Josee told Ivan that she was thinking about recording another Brazilian album. To which Ivan immediately responded that he’d love to produce that record!
The first seed for the friendship between Josee Koning and Ivan Lins was planted in July 1978. A mutual friend invited Josee to a concert of Ivan in Rio de Janeiro. They met after the show and Josee bought his LP “Nos Dias de Hoje”, which Ivan cordially signed ‘with a warm embrace from your friend Ivan Lins'.
In this video Josee tells about how she and Ivan bumped into each other musically through the years, including sharing the stage at North Sea Jazz and singing a duet during a concert of Ivan with the Metropole Orchestra back in 2006. A duet that led to this new album Doce Presença.
