The Polestar 1, produced from 2019 to 2022, was a limited-production plug-in hybrid grand tourer and the debut model from Volvo’s performance EV brand. Powered by a 2.0-liter twin-charged (supercharged and turbocharged) inline-4 engine paired with two electric motors and a 34 kWh battery, it delivered a combined 619 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. It could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 4.2 seconds and had an all-electric range of up to 60 miles—remarkably high for a hybrid. Weighing around 5,170 pounds, the Polestar 1 featured a carbon fiber body for weight savings and rigidity. Only 1,500 units were built globally, with a starting MSRP of around $155,000. Available paint colors included Snow (white), Magnesium (silver), Thunder (gray), Osmium (dark gray), Midnight (blue), and Void (black), with a limited-run matte gold version offered at the end of production.
