In a strong signal about her plans to make an impact on Detroit’s educational ecosystem,
Mayor Mary Sheffield today announced the formation of a new Department of Youth and Education
located directly in the Mayor’s Office. As part of this effort, Mayor Sheffield announced the appointment of Dr. Chanel Hampton as Senior Director of Youth and Education and Education Liaison to the Mayor, along with the appointment of JerJuan Howard as Director of Youth Affairs.
