This session is a live, improvised techno performance built from a minimal starting point: a single bass pattern on the Erica Synths DB-01. Rather than layering multiple sequences, I focused on exploring how far one idea could go, gradually reshaping it and letting it evolve into the driving force of the track. The rhythmic framework comes from the Roland TR-8S, which anchors the groove and allows for continuous hands-on changes throughout the jam.
The TR-8S handles all drums and percussion, making it easy to push and pull the energy in real time and introduce new textures as the performance develops. Paired with the DB-01, it creates a tight, focused setup that encourages movement through subtle shifts instead of dramatic drops.
For this jam, I wanted a smoother, more connected sound than in some of my earlier recordings. Adding the Zen Delay helped achieve that, bringing extra depth, space, and cohesion, and softening the sharper edges of the mix.
The emphasis here is on slow evolution, sound design, and live interaction with the hardware. I feel like my approach and overall sound are moving in a direction that fits me better, and I’m curious to hear how it comes across to others. Feedback is always appreciated.
