The iron roughneck practically eliminates pinch points on the rig floor by removing the need for manual pipe connections. The iron roughneck is controlled by joystick from a panel on the floor or in the doghouse.
Built for the medium depth market, the TDS-3000™ compliments Savanna's fleet by meeting needs in medium depth markets such as the Viking, Cardium, and lower Shaunavon Play. This new TopDrive Single is capable of reaching depths of 3000m and is built from the foundation of Savanna's Hybrid fleet. A re-configuration of less active Hybrid rigs has enabled Savanna to diversify its fleet and all early indications are that the demand for the TDS-3000™ will be strong due to their features and benefits. Employing topdrive technology, these rigs are highly mobile, and capable of running up to Range 3 pipe for efficient drilling and less connections.
