After spending several days in Fort Pierce fixing problems and getting caught up, it finally felt good to get moving again. We left through the same shallow, tide-dependent channel we squeezed into a few days earlier, timed it right, and made it out without any drama.
From there it was a short wait at a bridge before settling into an easy motor-sail south. About 28 calm miles later, the day turned into one of those quiet, smooth runs that remind you why you put up with the tough parts.
Along the way we spotted an osprey and even passed a few wind-foil surfers flying across the water. Not a bad way to spend a travel day.
We anchored for the night at Peck’s Lake. The anchorage itself was pretty crowded, but the surprise was right next to us — a completely empty beach stretching as far as we could see. Boats all around, yet total solitude on shore. We spent the evening close to the beach, soaking it in and enjoying the calm after a busy stretch.
A solid day, easy miles, and a pretty perfect place to end it.
