The best ability is availability. In order to be available for your team, we need to reduce our chance of injury. How do we do that? With proper core training. Proper core training consists of exercises that require you to resist movement (i.e. front planks) rather than creating movement (i.e. crunches). Take a look at what you do for core training or “abs,” and make sure all your exercises are of the anti-movement nature.
