Discus or Symphysodon discus are for many a very valuable or precious aquarium fish= many are specialized in keeping (& breeding or collecting) this kind of aquarium fish!
We have found in many of our observations serious infections (parasitic and bacterial) due to poor breeding, bad feeding practices, etc.
Here we have a case of most likely a bacterial infection (we can never exclude a viral infection but our work & tools do not allow to detect them).
