This is going to sound crazy but I am 100% serious, here in the dominican republic if you ever visit you will encounter something called the mandatory by law 10% tip. When you go to a restaurant or a fast food place, and if you stay to eat your food they will charge you 10% automatically by law.

1. According to Jim Rohn
The word tip stands for ( To insure Prompt service )
So the reason you tip is to get better service that usually
So obviosuly if you do not tip, you can expect to get atleast Good service ( beucase after all you are still a customer )
Now according to Jim
The right way to tip is to tip before they start serving you
So you arrive at the restaurant and you give them a tip of your choice at that moment
And based on that tip, they will you a prompt better service
Now I tried this
And my waiter lost his mind, he didn’t understand what just happened
He looked at me and froze and performed super nervously
I was with my brother and he had never seen that either, and he said that I broke our waiter
Objections:
I know what you thinking, if I tip I first, how do I know this person isn't just going to take the money and run
Well let's flip the question, if you don’t tip first, how does the waiter know that all his extra service wont go to waste because you don’t plan to tipping at all
I would advise to give it a try
2. How Do I tip
I’m not a billionaire and I’m not insensitive to money
And I don’t believe that I just give someone 30-50 of my bill just because everyone else tells me too ( that’s stupid, and I like to think for myself )
I usually tip between 10-15%, that’s the truth and sometimes I don’t tip a percentage I just tip a dollar amount
For example
here in Dominican Republic I get charged 10% automatically no matter what ( I think that is wrong )
I shouldn’t be forced to offset someone wages, the employer should do that with his business
But since I’m not a politician, if I get decent service I don’t tip anything and if get good service then I tip the 5% mission
Let's say I’m at the grocery store
And a guy bagging my groceries, and wants to help me take it to my car ( I know he wants money for that )
So if I have money, I tell him how much I’ll give him
And if I don’t have money, I tell him I don’t have money ( you can help or stay with the next customer )
3. When don’t I tip
Whenever its take out I don’t tip
Whenever you’re just doing your job I don’t tip
Whenever the service wasn’t good I didn’t tip
Overall
The thing about tipping is that its not an obligation
But its a choice and some days you can have extra
And some days you don’t
But be upfront about it, it should get you a bad service just not a prompt service
