The 2017 version of Helias Baseball will bring a good mix of experienced players and young talented looking to make their mark. There should be fierce competition for playing time that will only make the team better.

The Crusaders return six seniors to this year’s squad (Drew Boessen, Matthew Dampf, Zach Stiles, Cole Fennewald, Tyler Cassmeyer, and Noah Wisch) who have playoff experience and should provide solid leadership to the younger players.

The schedule is again loaded with several pre-season ranked teams set to face the Crusaders. Old rivals Jefferson City, Rock Bridge, and Hickman all of which are ranked in the top 10 in class 5 highlight the schedule. New opponents Parkway West, Lutheran St. Charles and KC O’Hara will bring new challenges for Helias to contend with.

The state has instituted new pitching rules and regulations that will give more players a chance to help the Crusaders achieve their goal of another district championship and trip to the Final Four.
Success in 2017 will depend on several factors, the hard work and determination of the players and coaches, the support of family and friends, and program wide dedication to the tradition Helias Baseball.
