Описание: Rip Current, often simply called a Rip or misleadingly a Rip Tide. Rip Current is a specific kind of water current that can occur near beaches with breaking waves. A Rip is a strong, localized and narrow current of water which moves directly away from the shore, cutting through the lines of breaking waves like a river running out to sea. A Rip Current is the strongest and fastest nearest the surface of the water.

Rip currents are a potential source of danger for people in shallow water with breaking waves and these currents responsible for many people getting into trouble while swimming. Rip currents often occur in deeper channels, between areas of breaking waves, and can flow at speeds up to 2 m/s. Rip currents are the proximate cause of 80% of rescues carried out by beach lifeguards.

Such reverse currents can occur regularly or irregularly at anytime, anywhere. However, due to the natural features, regular rip current or reverse current is found in some places. One such place is this northeast beach of Saint Martin islands at Cox’sbazar in Bangladesh.

Naturally, the northeast beach of Saint Martin is a triangular shape sea beach. It’s also known as the headland of St. Martin. Due to its structural features, this head-like place is an ideal place to create Rip Current or reverse current. If one pay close attention, he will see that the character of the waves here is completely different from that of the distant right or left side.

The headwaters of the Naf River from the northeast, the Myanmar coast from the east, and the deep sea from the north, all collided head-on in this headland of St. Martin. As the three-way reverse current pushes into the shallow beach, there is always extra tension between the waves. And in this excitement, the adventurous youngsters of the rising age sometimes step into the trap of this terrifying beauty, what a horrible consequence for some.
