The Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine is an interesting and unusual UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in Shimane Prefecture on the south-west of Japan's mainland, Iwami Ginzan was Japan's largest silver mine and operated from 1526 through until 1923. Industrial heritage sites are always intriguing, and we had a lot of fun here exploring the old mine tunnels, but also checking out the beautiful village clustered around the mine as well. Let's have a look!
