When we were children and couldn’t face the consequences of our actions, we cried.
Crying called for protection.
Someone came to justify us.
Someone took responsibility for us.
Over time, that crying doesn’t disappear.
It transforms into excuses.
An excuse is adult crying.
A way of avoiding responsibility.
In tennis, the same thing happens.
We blame the court.
The opponent.
The conditions.
The pressure.
But every excuse is a rejection of ownership over our own game.
Because only when you take full responsibility does freedom appear.
On the court, there is always a choice:
Make excuses…
or take responsibility.
