Painting an eye with only red and blue Andrew Cadima style

Описание: In this painting, I focused on creating a realistic eye using only two colors: red and blue. The goal was to see how much depth, form, and realism could be achieved with an extremely limited palette.

This piece was heavily inspired by Andrew Cadima’s approach, keeping things simple, focusing on value, and letting confident brushstrokes do the work instead of over-blending. Limiting the colors, it forces you to really understand light, shadow, and structure rather than relying on color variation.

The challenge here was pushing contrast and temperature using just red and blue, especially around the eyelids, tear duct, and surrounding skin. Even with such a minimal palette, it’s still possible to create a convincing sense of realism when the values are right.

If you enjoy limited palette studies, painterly realism, or experimenting with unconventional techniques, this was a fun one to explore.
