Sabah Parks opened two new accommodation blocks at Panalaban Hostel, behind Laban Rata Resthouse at Mount Kinabalu. The new hostels were named "Mokodou" and "Kinotoki." The two new accommodation blocks hold 25 beds each and is open to both Malaysian and International climbers.
The opening of the new accommodation blocks means the number of people able to climb Mount Kinabalu has been increased to 165 per day. Sabah Parks hopes to increase the number of climbers to 185 per day in the future, inviting more people to experience climbing Mount Kinabalu.
