Sonata for violin and piano was written in 1960 and dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Mikhailovich Kozlov, an outstanding educator and accompanist. It represents the twentieth century Neoclassicism, similar to works of Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, and others. The music of the Pastoral is elegant and it is reminiscent of Siciliana.
