In Loving Memory of Michael (Mike) Edwin Chargot Jr. ❤️
‘Today is the best day of my life.’
November 8, 1952 – February 7, 2025
Michael (Mike) Chargot was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, and friend — a man whose presence lit up every room, whose energy was contagious, and whose faith and character defined his every action. Born on November 8, 1952, in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, to Mary and Michael Chargot Sr., Mike lived a life that reflected strength, selflessness, and deep love for God, family, and community.
From a young age, Mike was industrious and entrepreneurial, learning the ropes of business by collecting profits from local movie theaters alongside his grandfather. He graduated from Port Huron Catholic High School and went on to attend Central Michigan University on a tennis scholarship, proudly playing on the college tennis team.
Mike met the love of his life, Judy Barrett, in elementary school and reconnected with her in college — a love story that blossomed quickly. They married on January 3, 1976, and shared an inseparable bond for 47 beautiful years. Their marriage began humbly, with both working hard to make ends meet, but together they built a successful life in Port Huron, Michigan. Mike owned and operated multiple businesses, including a thriving car wash and Troy Dry Cleaners & Restoration, as well as several rental properties. He retired just a few years ago to enjoy sunshine and family in Florida.
Mike lived with boundless energy. He loved being on the water — boating, water-skiing, and spending time at the beach or pool (especially getting a good tan). He also enjoyed hockey, golf, biking, weightlifting, and tennis. In recent years, he developed a passion for pickleball and even competed in the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships alongside his sister— an experience his daughters Christee and Michelle, and son-in-law Rob, proudly cheered on.
Mike’s life was one of action and intention. He was the ultimate handyman, always the first to show up when someone needed help or advice. His hugs, his smile, and his faith-filled heart made everyone feel seen and cared for. He lived by his values — loyalty, integrity, and service to others — and left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He believed in doing the right thing above all else and embodied what it means to live with purpose and kindness.
Mike’s deep faith in Jesus guided every step of his life, and we are comforted knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior. Surely, God welcomed him with the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy and his parents, Mary and Michael Chargot Sr.
He leaves behind his two adoring daughters, Christee Chargot and Dr. Michelle Chargot DiLella; his treasured son-in-law, Robert DiLella Jr.; and a large extended family who cherished him deeply. He also leaves behind his special companion, Jayne Kramic, whose love and friendship were a gift.
