Svartklæddur riddar · sýndi með hendi,
djarfur í dáð · þó nálægur stæði,
frjáls í hug · en með hjarta hlýju,
virðing var blídd · í vængjum hans.
Meyjan svarar · með mótsvar sitt,
hvíta hönd · hún heldr fram reiddi.
„Ertu eigi Érec, · Lac’s ins sonar?“
gaf hún honum · glaðan fund.

II.
„Úr eyja landi · álfa þú kemur,
eiða þarf eigi · auð sé ég það.
Djarft er þitt mál · og málrómur þinn,
framandleg rödd · í mínum eyrum.“
Svo mælti Dís · í drögtum hvítum,
Hvítadís nefnd · á hæðum sögðu:
„Ekki er þitt orð · af illu kyni,
heldr af Últon · og úthafs brimi.“

III.
„Sjálf augu þín · sýnast mér velskum,“
sagði drottning · í dýrðar rómi.
En riddarinn réð · að rétta svar sitt:
„Eigi villt · þú, fríð drottning.
Á Leòdhais ég · lifið öðlaðist,
Eilean nefnd · í erni tungu,
forn er sú rödd · sem frægir kveða,
