Here are three BNSF trains taken in 2000, 2001, and 2004 show casing the progression of how the variety of power has changed over the next couple of years.
Scene 1:
BNSF's northbound Denver to Laurel manifest led by an ex-Santa Fe Yellowbonnet EMD SD40-2, a BN GE C30-7, and a BNSF "Heritage 1" painted EMD SD40-2 as the train blows for the crossings on Atwood Street in Longmont, Colorado, on February 8, 2000.
Scene 2: BNSF's southbound Cheyenne Local blows for N 83rd Street between Longmont and Niwot, Colorado, powered with a pair of BN painted EMD SD40-2s, a Grinstein BN EMD SD70MAC, a Union Pacific GE AC4400CW, and Southern Pacific GE AC4400CW on January 5, 2001.
Scene 3: In 2004, BNSF's southbound loaded Molten Sulphur tank train, nicknamed the "Stinky Slinky" climbs Berthoud Hill and blows for the grade crossing at the newly built siding at Longs Peak, Colorado.
