We go through the council tax discounts most people over 60 miss: the single person discount (25% off if you live alone), the severe mental impairment disregard that can wipe the bill completely for someone with dementia, Alzheimer's or after a stroke, Council Tax Reduction for anyone on Pension Credit or a low income, and the disabled band reduction for an adapted home. I'll also explain backdating, the one word that can turn a small monthly saving into a refund worth thousands.
