Sir Keir Starmer joked that Angela Rayner should “check that Boris Johnson” isn’t stowing away in the red Labour “battle bus” as the party launched its country-wide tour.
“All week she’s been showing me photographs of her bus, and now I’ve come to see this fantastic bus,” he said of Angela Rayner, his deputy.
He compared his wait to see the bus to the wait for Tory defectors, saying you wait for one “for ages”, and then “three come along all at once”.
