Aalborg, Denmark, will behosting The Tall Ships Race for the third time from July 21st to the 24th 2010.
The aims of The Tall Ships Races are to enable young people of all nations to race together at sea under sail, and to face together in friendship and competition the challenges presented by the races and the associated events and, in addition, to promote the Objects of Sail Training International.
During The Tall Ships Races the fleet sails two races, competing to reach the finish line first. The vessels are divided into different categories (class A, B, C and D), depending on the size of the vessel. Between the two races "Cruise in Company" takes place. "Cruise in Company" is a race where coziness and fellowship seats the honor. Often you can see crewmembers swooping during "Cruise in Company". The vessels sail in smaller groups and arrange cozy gatherings during the sail to the next harbour.
Wherever The Tall Ships Races fleet meets in port, the organization is shared between Sail Training International and the Host Port and the City.
