Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 crash-lands in Kathmandu, Nepal

All passengers on board a Turkish Airlines plane escaped unhurt after the aircraft overshot the runway in Kathmandu and ended up in a grassy field on Wednesday.Turkish Airlines flight THY726 was carrying 238 passengers from Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Tuesday night and was en route to the Nepalese capital. Foggy weather forced the Airbus A330 to circle above Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for half an hour and make one unsuccessful landing attempt.The jetliner eventually landed on a grassy field between the runway and the taxiway. The front landing gear suffered substantial damage, but no passengers were hurt during the crash-landing. The runway at Tribhuvan International Airport has been temporarily closed.
