Before we pass onto the piece itself, here is a list of the soloists and their respective roles:
Anna Erisso - June Anderson,
Calbo - Margarita Zimmermann,
Paolo Erisso - Ernesto Palacio.
7. 0:00 - 3:58. "Mira, signor", terzettino for Calbo, Anna and Erisso. The structure of the preceding terzettino is again used. Calbo states the very elegant theme, trying to make his commander understand the women's plight. Father and daughter are musically set apart by the following march-like section. But Anna then takes up Calbo's couplet, asking her father to take pity on his foolish daughter. Erisso at first tries to resist his offspring's tears but gradually his voice is added to the ensemble, symbolizing his conflicting feelings. The piece ends with a most serene coda.
8. 3:58 - 5:36. "Partiam, guerrieri... Addio", the third and final tempo di mezzo. The warriors prepare to part, but, before going, Erisso gives his daughter a dagger to protect herself from the enemy.
9. 5:36 - to the end. "Dicesti assai. T'intendo", the final stretta. Anna swears to use the dagger as soon as the moment comes. Calbo and Erisso are amazed at Anna's strength. The piece ends with all three soloists and the chorus singing a brilliant crescendo. The piece though is then brought to a halt for a final whispered "addio" from all. The final shift to G major is used to prepare the scene for the entrance of Maometto and his cavatina.
That was the piece, hope you enjoyed it :)!
