Biolab investigation sparks calls for stronger oversight nationwide

Описание: The City of Reedley is commending the rapid response of Nevada authorities following a raid on a home in Las Vegas, which uncovered an alleged biolab.

Reedley City Manager Nicole Zieba highlighted the contrast between the Las Vegas operation and a similar situation in Reedley, Calif., where she says federal assistance was minimal.

Zieba recounted the discovery of a biolab in Reedley in December 2022, initiated by a code enforcement officer's observation of a green hose protruding from a vacant building.

Inside, the officer found a "house of horrors" with genetically modified mice and biological materials.

Zieba noted that federal agencies, including the CDC, provided limited support, leaving local officials to manage the situation.
